Once upon a time there was a company that claimed it was in the Canary Wharf towers in London (famous skyline image) it was not but it it offered a good deal if you knew what you doing
They where called uk2.net (and variants) I (among many others used them and was happy). There hosting got spammish but as a domain registrar that did not matter to me – they where ok although less clueless persons found them unhelpful through ignorance.
There website was not very good, but it also had a forum it was useful but one day (a long time ago) it became a gamers only forum only for dumb people who like playing counterstrike etc for like 18 hours a day.
They from that point onwards did not want to know about hosting, domain’s or any of that useful stuff that made me purchase there services, needless to say the functions still remained to do that but there was no place to talk about it.
So (like many others i’m sure) I began to move domains from them to other ‘proper’ registrars and I only have one domain registered with them now.
Needless to say they seem to have come back to being a professional operation looking at there website (which i do once every once when there is a ‘z’ in the month. but for me this change its too late, there interest in there dns service was minimal you cant do txt which is good for normal spf, domain-keys etc.
The tale I tell here is a lesson that while hosting games might make a profit, but for people like me (whom don’t play games) will go elsewhere – i did not come to uk2.net to play games.
if you lose my custom I'm not likely to come back. – I’m not talking of web-hosting (not used), but everything – if it happens again i would be foolish the .eu domains are registered elsewhere too.
Gamers might have helped to pay the bills but there’s a point when the games have to stop – it is unlikely that I will continue to use uk2.net.
That’s how it goes sometimes
I concur, UK2.net is a pile of poo
