The book isbn 0349117624 and published in 2003 imagines a world where nike kills its clients in order to get street cred and be fashionable so its a sideways look at globalisation, Chomsky and branding (my blog).

co starring Charton Heston with his nutty national rifle association (nra) fans.

There are other well known names in this tale.  Which is not at all depressing but at times damm funny with the nra shooting down jumbo jets and killing teenagers makes it the sane voice of logic on guns today.

Nike seem to have taken the book seriously in some regards (google bloodied trainers) and have tried to ignore it in other ways which is a shame.

For the game 5/5 bananas, Book 3/5 bananas.  An interesting read.
