OK an admission i had never heard of apb which if you too are in the dark in a computer game that has been shut down after two months (/.) Perhaps the more murky areas to this story are in the details which the bbc and other msm outlets are not pursuing due to editorial issues – eg the bbc news dislike of computer games as it competes against it.
So depending on upon who you read some conclusion can be reached.
- gaging the press for week after the game is released isnt a good idea (what game?)
- scotland is only competitive with a tax handout
- the way you perceive a game to be played does not mean players will do it that way – even greifers are in red dead redemption
- fiefdoms developers/forum/tech support do need to talk to each other
- it probably only ran on windows to start with
- virtual currencies (as a means to support the game) are fickle and non refundable unlike say game points.
The lessons to be learned here – if you are setting up a business in scotland you can probably get a tax credit for it even it runs for a month. Do not ever advertise your game, and you too can walk away with no losses.
