Once upon a time is a tv series that mixes fairy tales* with normal life, into a mixture of high camp and parody, and following in the theme its Grimm, hey its a trend or there’s lots of lemmings in the tv industry.
First up I start with Once upon a …,, actors don’t know whether to ham it up, or make it as a comedy as ‘normal’ people or as there alter egos. A full compliment of midgets is on hand just in case you was wondering.
It is no jim henson masterpiece, and interesting only that they use the european names of the characters, rather than a certain mouse names for them who stole them from the public domain.
That’s for the kids
Grimm is bit more mature on the other hand, daring to use the G word and mention a european heritage to americans. Done as a police procedural, it is more adult and less pork product, looks the better interpretation.
Anyhow i am sure that another grimm tales tv show will hit tv screens real soon now, probably as a trend of urban fantasy books (my blog) after all two shows with ancient model vw beetles as props is nowhere near enough for the next big thing.
My banana is on Grimm being a perhaps a little more believable than sanctuary. However with Disney mia one wonders who will take on the evil copyright holder in the us. The rdm pilot with the same idea got cancelled so im calling it now
* not homosexual
