battlestar:The Plan

Awful (and that’s from a fan of the reimaged tv series), mind you i did not like razor either.

0/5 bananas,

Mr Olmos (whose project it is) should be ‘reminded‘ that knowing everything makes for a boring life, for instance whatever Kara Thrace was*, and quite how things became means sometimes its nice to think for oneself.

New Caprica and Battlestar who is zoe ?

I hate humans more than any other skin job

I hate humans more than any other skin job

Brother Cavil in Battlestar Galactica was the uber baddy.  As the first cylon skin job he apparently altered the others to apparently do his bidding.

He also tortured the final five from the ‘13th tribe’ in various ways making sure none got death the simple way.

If Zoe from New Caprica (my blog) starts the first cylon war, and it then seems had enough influence to continue it.

Zoe who we must assume remained a robot whom had the ear of Cavil.  Consider.

Battlestar season 4 final on dvd

'Finding yourself'

'Finding yourself'

The editing is a little snappier than the tv, but mostly the same, it really is an enjoyable series and i still like the end.

The extras and production of the dvd’s left me wanting – not many pod casts, some deleted scenes and nothing earth shattering and the dvd’s of the earlier series seem more complete with more directors versions

Bear McCreary’s music extra was worth the time though he and his team are geniuses.

Family

The pilot of the prequel to Battlestar Galactica aired sometime ago and i saw it only recently.

The society under exploration is more fractured and to its credit appears to follow the rulebook that bg laid down in its 12 colonies where the episode ‘dirty hands‘  (my blog) laid down who did what on which planet.

In contrast to Virtuality (my blog) the bluring between real life and holodeck was way better and although the pilot was fast and loose with the introductions in regard to focus a decent plot that follows the bg timeline and give room for a series was laid down.

However – there lies the problem we know how this ends so whether gluing a series onto battlestar placemarks may appear not to be such a good idea.

The styling is interesting a mix of classic hats and futuristic robots that appears to us as wrong and the car ‘mistake’ of battlestar have so been minimised.

This if done properly might be interesting, but somehow i think it will upset somebody that the setting of the show has a large influence in something most of us have seen.

It returns in Jan 2010, the dvd extras are rather brief and not worth the bother.

BUT I read though that the tv series is already having issues with ‘tits’ and so those will not be seen on tv in the pilot and comic con reports indicate that the ‘realism’ of the series is already been toned down.

Battlestar (bg) was considered too male, Caprica was supposed to be softer and also appeal to women.  It seems that blood scared the the frak out of the tv network idiots, and any ‘hard’ discussion of say religion/politics etc is also a bit too scary for american tv.

Somehow New Caprica is going to be a bit retarded.  Lets face it if boobs scare you , but war is ok – then perhaps caprica  is in for some serious problems for if you cannot show those then all the other issues must seem very very scary to a tv exec*.

The messages are mixed  though but s/f that appeals to both mass men and women is a very tall order to start with maybe this is a frak up before it can even be judged.

Mind you the clones of Battlestar are in production those ideas are in the wild so perhaps not all is lost.

Battlestar: Daybreak (part 2)

familair to some

familiar to some

The final of Battlestar which fortunately means the series should go out on a high rather than rehash stories and get abused by the idiots whom ‘manage television’

Daybreak part 2 was a joy to watch – Mr Moore (pictured) pulled the rabbit from the hat, made the flashbacks count for something and pulled a happy ending in as well

Chickens came home to roost, and the ending satisfied me.  What was Starbuck ? Clever.

5/5 Bananas

However – SciFi have decided to rename themselves to the venereal disease tv channel (syfy) this it would appear bode not good for the ‘caprica’ spinoff of battlestar since s/f isn’t cool.

So a tv channel that used to show s/f will now only show gay sport (wrestlers must be gay),game shows and other mass market pap. Before you think so what the marketing dept also came up with the tag to SyFy of ‘imagine greater’ huh that’s management for you.

I doubt i will watch any of SyFy on account it will have no science fiction, and catholics will certainly also have a problem but then they like sex, even abusive gay sex.

have any of you seen the missing viper?

have any of you seen the missing viper im trying to step on to?

Hmmm – strange one this part (a lot) of flash back and then a call for volunteers., terribly disjointed, a bit of an odd mix really.

Last weeks was labouring too. Let us hope that the part 2 (the final) bit redeems itself

2.5/5 bananas.

Battlestar: Someone to watch over me (4.17)

play it again sam

play it again sam

Bananas in the Falklands new headphones died on me so i spent an interesting 20 minutes figuring out if this was ‘me’ or the producer messing with my head.

It was ‘me’ and once i used my old headphones  i even heard words. This episode smoked, the looks about the ship, the plot twists and the accounting to come means this is damm too good to miss.

Nice to see Chief Tyrol take a strong lead again.

4/5 bananas.

time to call spaceship recovery

time to call spaceship recovery

So … how do you square a series away, introduce the beginnings of a new spin off series and not look complete retards in the process ?

Quite a lot of rehash here.  and thing are being setup for the final in a organised run to the finish

4/5 Bananas

So does bg handle the new competition of barbies house (expect a revioew later this week), and that mad sarah thing (which i have blogged about before) ? of course it does.  Its such a fucking shame that all other lame brained tv exec’s only think that s/f can be shown on tv on friday
